Project Description
The project consisted of a fixed tilt non-rotating 2 megawatt solar field located within the Camp Parks Reserve Forces Training Area near the East Bay community of Dublin. The US Army Corps of Engineers engaged a request for proposal process to select a design build team to design, engineer, construct and commission the new solar power generating facility. VVH Consulting Engineers was selected as part of the design team including Stantec Consulting and Mortenson Construction to provide the solar field construction. The project is located in a small valley with gentle rolling hills topography. Maintaining existing drainage patterns and a natural swale were primary design considerations. The VVH team handled all civil engineering and surveying aspects of the project through construction. The Camp Parks site is a high security facility located within an operating military training ground. Access to the facility required extensive background clearance checks for all personnel working on-site. The solar field occupies approximately 10 acres.
